From decor gravure printer to surface specialist

Schattdecor has been supplying printed decor paper, foil and melamine film to leading companies in the wood-based panel and furniture industry for over 30 years. The family-owned company of Thansau, Germany, processes over 100,000 metric tons of paper a year, and last year generated sales of over €550 million with over 1,500 employees at 13 locations. Although the firm's main focus remains on rotogravure printing, its foil and melamine film operations have seen a surge in importance over recent years thanks to new technologies and processing possibilities. In 2013 Schattdecor produced over 270 million square metres of foil at its Głuchołazy plant in Poland – enough to cover the earth three times or more and contributing to a 50 percent increase in consolidated foil output compared to 2012.

Mondi Raubling GmbH

Rosenheimer Str. 37
83064 Raubling,
Germany
Internet: mondigroup.com

The Mondi Raubling paper mill in Bavaria was founded in 1908 and draws on a long tradition of paper production. The mill was bought by Mondi in 2004 and has since been gradually modernised and restructured: What was once only a paper mill has now become a future-oriented company site with a primary focus on recycling.

Along with the paper mill, Mondi runs a separate waste paper sorting plant in the municipality of Raubling – Chiemgau Recycling GmbH. After sorting, the paper is further processed in the paper mill and is thus one of the principal raw materials at this site. More than 184,000 tonnes of recycled paper are used annually in the production of containerboard. In addition, Mondi Raubling GmbH is a partner for recycling liquid packaging board. Every year approx. 130,000 to 140,000 tonnes of used beverage cartons are collected in Germany, over a third of which find appropriate reuse at our site.

Today, paper is produced on two paper machines designed for a width of 2.5 metres, allowing the mill to produce up to 210,000 tonnes of containerboard each year.

The Mondi Raubling paper mill lives up to the company’s mission through close contact with the local communities: as an employer and business partner of firms throughout the region, our site is 100% ‘IN TOUCH EVERY DAY’.
